THE OBSESSION OF BEING BEAUTIFUL

February 24th, 2011 -

People are vain by nature, and are really obsessed with the way they look.  They spend more time searching for ways to remove that zit in their face, erase those wrinkles,  take off those unwanted hair, or even make their skin look more fairer. This obsession to improve on their aesthetic beauty is what cosmetic companies are banking on to make their living, but then, that is another story.  People buy cosmetic products to look beautiful and desirable to others, period.  They always want to project that perfect look and maintain that projection of innocence and freshness. Why, even the wealthiest man in the world would marvel a pretty face who could be coming from a not so well-to do family.  Individuals get to spend tons of money just to have a pretty face, and this can be traced to man’s natural obsession of wanting to look beautiful in the eyes of others.  A born narcissist, so to speak.

Hair trend 2011: Double hair knot

February 15th, 2011 -

I am noticing that with the beginning of 2011 new hair style trends are also paving their way. The main point is that hair accessories and other hair style things are not included to prepare a hair style like it was in 2010. No doubt, there is a little use of headbands but the larger push is towards natural styles.

One of these styles is double hair knot. In this hair style you just need to make knots. You must be remembering that some years back single know hairstyles were famous, but this time you just need to put one more knot to make the effect more interesting. This hairstyle just suits for autumn and fall winters and looks good both in wavy and straight hair.

February, 14th – 16th, Its Happening!!!!

February 7th, 2011 -

The “Manchester of the East” Ahmedabad in Gujarat, India is hosting the DIGJAM Vibrant Fashion Week Season 2. It coincides with the Valentine’s day. India already boasts the Lakme Fashion Week and India Fashion Week.

In this event an effort will be made to portray the traditional Indian fashion so that the designers attending the show can pick them up and use it in their themes. The textile industry in Gujarat dates back to the 1860′s the days of British Occupation of India. In 1905, Ahmedabad alone had about 33 textile mills. Fashion helps sell the products from the textile industry, thus it only makes sense to have Fashion show hosted in Ahmedabad.

The Season 1 of the DIGJAM Vibrant Fashion Week was held last year in Ahmedabad with various top models in India and designers. Some of them included Zarin Khan, Sophie Chaudhari, Amruta Patki, etc. New talent Patan Patola was also promoted last year in this forum. This event acts as a platform for traders, partners, alliances, and fashion media to exchange views and their work.

This year designers such as Paras & Shalini Sulakshana Monga, Abhi & Rahul, Aslam Khan Pradeep Agarwal, Arshi Jamal, etc are expected to be present.

What do I wear this Spring?

February 6th, 2011 -

It is that time of the year when the birds are chirping and the flowers are blossoming. It is also that time of the year when students want to wear clothes for their springbreak and women professionals want to dress colorful for the occasion.

What does one wear? Well it is mostly denim combination that is preferred during this time. Elle provides a range of products for the women who like to dress for the season.

Denim is defined as a cloth made out of coarse cotton that has a twill weave. It is most commonly available in most of the fashion outlets. Most common form of denims are jeans pants and shirts. They are very comfortable to wear and experience.

They give men a rugged look. There are various types of denim pants such as slim-fit, baggy fit, etc. Elle has fashionable denim dresses as shown in the picture here. Their motto seems to be if it is in fashion we are into it.

You should try it out….

Make Puffs with Bumpits: The Latest Style Icon

February 2nd, 2011 -

Yes, beehive look is back and it is sure that every girl wants it especially those with flat hair. This is the only reason why hair accessories and other related things are filling up the markets like crazy. One of these hair accessories becoming hot favorite of girls is bumpits.

Bumpit is a useful thing to give volume to flat hair so now there is no need to back comb your hair to create puff. Also, back combing leads to hair breakage. Whatever is your hair color, a bumpit of matching color is there for you with different sizes.

To use bumpit, just part the section of your hair and insert the bumpit behind it. Now, with full caution lay your hair on it to cover the bumpit. You can also leave it like this or pin up your hair with a bob pin. If you need extra volume, just use two bumpits in a row.

Flowetry in Motion

May 17th, 2010 -

Chanel made a big 1970s-style entrance this year at their resort show in Saint-Tropez with a line of flowing chiffon tunics, gingham blouses, camel mini skirts, and lacey swimwear inspired by looks made popular 40 years ago. Other sartorial highlights included sheer, delicate, flower print maxi gowns worn with little flat gold sandals, along with white suits and ankle-length flowy pants.

The show presented a curious reversal with many of the stars and fabulous audience members wearing clothes that were tighter and more revealing than the models, who breezed down the runway barefoot and dressed in long see-through caftans, ruffley silk suits, and patchwork shirts. One memorable turn on the runway ended with model Georgia Jagger (daughter of Mick) riding in on the back of a motorcycle.

Chanel’s current look may have been inspired by Coco Chanel’s personal history in tropical locations and the laidback vibe of Saint-Tropez itself. Other recent Chanel shows have also taken place in landmarks from Coco’s past like Venice and Shanghai. And creative director and fashion god Karl Lagerfeld also attributes part of his style legacy to his younger days spent on the relaxed beaches of the Riviera.

With Chanel’s embrace of roomy retro styles, could this signal a new wave of comfy, flowing fasion?

Oscar Fashion!

March 8th, 2010 -

Last night at the Oscars there were some very impressive dresses, but nothing too crazy. The more spartan schemes of last year were discarded as displayed by Tina Fey, whose one strap Michael Kors number made her look more like  a diva than a comedy star.

Sandra Bullock, who won Best Actress, displayed a lovely gold dress that complemented her Oscar win. J.Lo showed off a light pink Armani dress that showed off her curves and had everyone talking:

Overall, it was a night with big winners and high fashion.

Makeup Tips: Creating a Smoky Eye

January 13th, 2010 -

Smoky Eye Look

Whether you’re preparing to grace the cover of a fashion magazine – or just your favorite nightclub – a smoky eye can give you that sexy, mysterious edge popular among many models and celebrities.

Here are your instructions for the perfect smoky eye:

Start with concealer. Apply a light layer of concealer both under your eye and over your upper lid. This will cover up any dark circles and make it easier for your eye makeup to go on evenly.

Apply eye-liner. Use an eye pencil or liquid liner to draw lines across to top and bottom rims of each eye. When you’re finished, smudge the line a bit with a q-tip or eye shadow brush.

Shadow it up. Pick a dark shade of eye shadow and apply with a sponge, brush, or q-tip on top of your eyeliner. Next, add a lighter, natural shade of shadow in a circle surrounding each eye, employing a gentler application in areas further from the eye.

Mascara, baby! To finish off the look, add some black mascara to your upper and lower lashes.
