SHOOING AWAY THOSE DANDRUFF TROUBLES

February 23rd, 2011 -

A common and ignored problem which everyone has around today is dandruff.  It starts with the itching of the head followed closely by flakes appearing on our heads.  If this is what happens, then we have a dandruff problem.  While there may be dandruff treatment shampoos in the market, there are certain home remedies available to effectively deal with this problem. First and foremost, everyone should take Zinc daily in order to prevent this problem from happening.  Next, dandruff problems are created sometimes due to certain health deficiencies, such as low levels of Vitamins A, B B12, F and selenium. Naturally, if the person sees his level count as too low, the most prudent think to do is to increase the food intake, particularly those foods rich in vitamins A, B6, B12, F and selenium. However, if the problem is really that serious, it is always good to be prepared food every contingency.

Online Dating Evolves

July 22nd, 2010 -

Social mapping is finally where it wanted to be. The latest online dating sites help you find people who share the same interests in real time. Using GPS capabilities they track people who are like you, and then hey, you can do what you will.

A new site called Cheek’d gives the card a chance. Like what you see? Slip her a coy card with a message like “I’m looking forward to our first date,” and wait for her to locate you on Cheekd.com.

Instead of relying on the Internet first, the net becomes a means to further real life interaction. Spot the looker, hand them a card, and hope they call. It’s slicker than telephoning, and more honest than the traditional dating sites with pictures that disappoint when you arrive at your first date. Instead of the formality of day-long back and forth messages, the immediacy occurs right there.

Skout, a phone application, alerts people to others in the area who like the same things they do. For safety reasons, a precise location isn’t defined, but within that radius you can message and easily meet in a matter of minutes.

So see? Our generation isn’t really any different from the last. It’s just that we have newer tools; same sheep, different skin.

7 Tips to Photo Yourself

July 1st, 2010 -

It’s important these days to have a good online image, for facebook or whatever social site you use.  People want to see a personal side to you, having fun, or doing something different. Follow these tips to have a picture that everyone will be commenting on:

1. Look different: don’t always shoot yourself from the same angle or in the same place. Wear hats, change hairstyles, look like you don’t care.

2. Don’t shoot from below: from above or straight on, lying or sitting, just not underneath.

3. If you have a bad flash, turn it up: and don’t be afraid to experiment with other settings, especially for touches like blurry and washed out, which can lend a modern feel to your photos. If you aren’t into that, black and white is a great option for the retro look.

4. Subtlety: if you’re traveling, there’s a lot of points scored for not standing in front of the Coliseum, or the Trevi fountain, but maybe enjoying an espresso cafe-side instead.

5. Camera phones: are totally cool, especially for capturing that immediate candid photo.

6. Shoot yourself: it doesn’t come across as narcissistic, but feels spontaneous and honest.

7. Photoshop: use it if you have it. Why not?

Men’s Fashion: Milan Spring ’11

June 23rd, 2010 -

Summer color this year is hot, and I’m not just talking about your tan. The best wears are bright: acqua, pistachio, hot pink, mango, almond, weird how most cool colors are now foods. Cop some fresh gear to stand out, and then pair it with butterfly glasses for ladies – here comes the androgynous note – so basically men can be cool if they wear lighter, more feminine glasses, and colors, and women, well, this post isn’t for you (but basically the same stuff applies for the above and all that follows).

The gladiator sandal is in this summer, so wear it whatever way you can. Same goes for jeggings, a.k.a. really tight jeans that look like leggings. Chains are cool, draped around your neck, or over your body in another way. One word of caution: don’t throw all of it together – this applies to men and women – no matter how sexy you are, or think you are, you can’t pull off a chain necklace, an acqua shirt, jeggings, butterfly glasses, and gladiator glasses. If you try, people will think you hopped stops on a time travel expedition.

Summer Essentials

May 25th, 2010 -

It’s important to stay cool during summer, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to look hot!

In the city, preppy shorts and a tee are a great combo. Or if you’re heading to work and want to look chic, nothing like a vintage inspired dress to take professionalism to the next level.

If you’re going to the beach, or you want to pack an outfit for after work, lugging a big purse can put unnecessary strain on your shoulder. Instead, choose a backpack. This pack also looks great with safari themed styles.

The World Cup may be in Africa this year, but you don’t have to feel left out if you’re not going.

These patterns are simple, and wearing them together makes a statement that you’re not afraid to be adventurous. Neutral tones, like khaki, and pistachio are a great way to stand out, and cool down.

And if you want to stay funky fresh on the beach, there’s nothing like an acid wash or a tie dye:

So get ready for the best summer ever, and start shopping today.

Looking for a Hot Trend? Think Gray!

April 2nd, 2010 -

With the spring months heating up and the summer not too far away, it’s important to stay cool any way you can. And while you may not want to shear your hair, lightening your shade can do wonders to help you stay cool and look cooler.

Many young fashionistas are embracing an arctic look that revolves around light colored hair – from gray to silver to white to the old platinum blonde. You may be thinking of Marilyn Monroe, but this new trend is decidedly  more 21st century. Gray is the new blonde, and while you may be reluctant to look older, think again – silver highlights on blondes are a great way to stand out and make a statement.

This trend, which first appeared on the fashion runways of Paris last month is quickly about to become mainstream. Both evocative and subversive, the absence of color in your hair will make you stand out against all of the same old colors, and previous color treatments that left you feeling tired of your hair after a month or two, whether they fade or because of the odd looks you get, won’t happen with streaks of gray. Bear in mind that this style requires confidence to be worn properly, so if you like it, try it!

On the Hunt With Camo

March 4th, 2010 -

You might have heard that this spring a hot trend is camouflage. Camouflage is a relatively classic cyclical trend. Steve Hardy of Squeeze Jeans says,  “Every time the trend comes around I’ve seen it happen the same way: first leopard, zebra and snake prints, then military camouflage.”

Pilot/harem pants are a cool look to match a sleek fitted top or jacket. But it’s not enough to get baggy army pants – this time the trend is decidedly romantic. Lace camo, lingerie camo, sexy and feminine is the way to wear it this spring. Even shiny camouflage is hip. These new styles undermine the traditional notion that to wear camo is to blend in.

If you really want to get noticed, pair it with some shimmery gold, light green military jackets, studs, and leather. Though this style is influenced by urban settings, it is beginning to have a more traditional, preppy place as well. Light jackets are the perfect accessory. And remember when you’re shopping that the right fit goes a long way with a light jacket – you can wear this classic at any time of year.

Mixing is the New Matching

March 2nd, 2010 -

This spring matching is out. It’s been headed this way for a while, but it is officially uncool to match – anything. Juxtaposition of styles is way hot. For example, wearing a frilly skirt with a studded leather jacket. Or wearing jeans with a navy blazer. If you used to think that you could never wear those two pieces in your closet together, now is  a perfect time to introduce them to each other.

Color is hot too. Bright ranges of rainbow are in, and don’t worry about wearing too many different ones, that’s the point. Tie die can look especially good, as long as you make it look sophisticated. Try to mix it with some nice oxfords or a structured belt to convey class and remake the Birkenstock vibe.

If you’re getting funky with bold patterns, try to keep it in line with your accessories. Don’t go all out and wear everything that you think is fierce. Keep it simple with some classic shoes and jewelry.

And lastly don’t save all your going out clothes for going out. Sparkly tops and gold and silver look even better during the day this spring because it radiates nonchalant style.

Best Beauty Secrets

December 30th, 2009 -

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the truth is, there are many beholders that we encounter during the day. Our spouse, our work colleagues, our friends, and more. Making ourselves appear presentable, attractive, engaging, and positive are all outcomes of a health and beauty routine that we follow. Here are some of the best beauty secrets you can use to help you be the most beautiful you possible.

Make-up

Make-up is meant to enhance and draw the eye, not distract or cover. Use make-up to highlight your best features by applying it subtly and with restraint.

  1. Use lotions to hydrate and medicate your skin and repair damage caused by the environment.
  2. Deep-cleanse to flush out make-up at the end of the day so that it does not contribute to blemishes by plugging pours.

Diet

  1. A balanced diet with plenty of water is a great way to get a healthy and vibrant look from your skin. When you eat properly, your skin has the right balance of nutrients and takes on a healthy look. An unbalanced diet – particularly from fad diets and starvation diets – creates a gray pallor that does not look attractive.
  2. You can eat a greater variety of foods than you think you can when you apply portion control. Find out the right portions you should be eating and stick to those.

Exercise

  1. Exercise all muscle groups in your body and don’t forget about your face. Incorporate facial exercises into your workout routine to help your face appear younger.
  2. If you have trouble setting aside time to workout, incorporate exercise into your daily routine: Take the stairs, park far away from the store and walk, etc. You should still aim to set aside a prolonged period of exercise but these healthy tips help you to get some exercise throughout the day.

Success

  1. Successful beauty practices, no matter what you do, only work when you apply them consistently. Just as binge diets don’t work, binge beauty efforts don’t work. Be consistent.
  2. Confidence. With diet and exercise, you’ll do so much good. But confidence is a major factor that can make someone seem older or even less beautiful. Adopt a confident smile and posture and a positive, “I can do it” attitude and you will seem more beautiful than ever.
  3. Beauty is external… and internal. Smile, be positive, be truthful, and enjoy life and you’ll be beautiful on the side and the outside.

These best beauty secrets work! Apply them in your life to achieve beauty. You’ll live a healthier, happier life.
