THE OBSESSION OF BEING BEAUTIFUL

February 24th, 2011 -

People are vain by nature, and are really obsessed with the way they look.  They spend more time searching for ways to remove that zit in their face, erase those wrinkles,  take off those unwanted hair, or even make their skin look more fairer. This obsession to improve on their aesthetic beauty is what cosmetic companies are banking on to make their living, but then, that is another story.  People buy cosmetic products to look beautiful and desirable to others, period.  They always want to project that perfect look and maintain that projection of innocence and freshness. Why, even the wealthiest man in the world would marvel a pretty face who could be coming from a not so well-to do family.  Individuals get to spend tons of money just to have a pretty face, and this can be traced to man’s natural obsession of wanting to look beautiful in the eyes of others.  A born narcissist, so to speak.

Hair trend 2011: Double hair knot

February 15th, 2011 -

I am noticing that with the beginning of 2011 new hair style trends are also paving their way. The main point is that hair accessories and other hair style things are not included to prepare a hair style like it was in 2010. No doubt, there is a little use of headbands but the larger push is towards natural styles.

One of these styles is double hair knot. In this hair style you just need to make knots. You must be remembering that some years back single know hairstyles were famous, but this time you just need to put one more knot to make the effect more interesting. This hairstyle just suits for autumn and fall winters and looks good both in wavy and straight hair.

February, 14th – 16th, Its Happening!!!!

February 7th, 2011 -

The “Manchester of the East” Ahmedabad in Gujarat, India is hosting the DIGJAM Vibrant Fashion Week Season 2. It coincides with the Valentine’s day. India already boasts the Lakme Fashion Week and India Fashion Week.

In this event an effort will be made to portray the traditional Indian fashion so that the designers attending the show can pick them up and use it in their themes. The textile industry in Gujarat dates back to the 1860′s the days of British Occupation of India. In 1905, Ahmedabad alone had about 33 textile mills. Fashion helps sell the products from the textile industry, thus it only makes sense to have Fashion show hosted in Ahmedabad.

The Season 1 of the DIGJAM Vibrant Fashion Week was held last year in Ahmedabad with various top models in India and designers. Some of them included Zarin Khan, Sophie Chaudhari, Amruta Patki, etc. New talent Patan Patola was also promoted last year in this forum. This event acts as a platform for traders, partners, alliances, and fashion media to exchange views and their work.

This year designers such as Paras & Shalini Sulakshana Monga, Abhi & Rahul, Aslam Khan Pradeep Agarwal, Arshi Jamal, etc are expected to be present.

What do I wear this Spring?

February 6th, 2011 -

It is that time of the year when the birds are chirping and the flowers are blossoming. It is also that time of the year when students want to wear clothes for their springbreak and women professionals want to dress colorful for the occasion.

What does one wear? Well it is mostly denim combination that is preferred during this time. Elle provides a range of products for the women who like to dress for the season.

Denim is defined as a cloth made out of coarse cotton that has a twill weave. It is most commonly available in most of the fashion outlets. Most common form of denims are jeans pants and shirts. They are very comfortable to wear and experience.

They give men a rugged look. There are various types of denim pants such as slim-fit, baggy fit, etc. Elle has fashionable denim dresses as shown in the picture here. Their motto seems to be if it is in fashion we are into it.

You should try it out….

What’s in a bag?

February 4th, 2011 -

Well look at this bag. Isn’t it just brilliant? I don’t know if it is the color or it is the sheer combination of the bag (Tiffany) color, its size, and the handle or maybe it is because of the Tiffany & Company brand associated with it.

It is called the Tiffany Bracelet Bag. The person carrying this bag would not require to wear so much of jewelry, the bag itself can substitute the bracelet. What more can one ask for? The lock is of the kiss-lock mechanism.

The hand-bag is from Italy. This is a satin bag, just imagine the texture. The bag has a ball chain handle making it convenient to carry. The bag drops to 3” by the ball chain handle. The bag always carries the signature blue satin from Tiffany. There are 8 beautiful colors variants in which this bag is available. Some of the colors are red, Tiffany blue (as you can see here), black pearl. The bag costs only US$ 795.

Make Puffs with Bumpits: The Latest Style Icon

February 2nd, 2011 -

Yes, beehive look is back and it is sure that every girl wants it especially those with flat hair. This is the only reason why hair accessories and other related things are filling up the markets like crazy. One of these hair accessories becoming hot favorite of girls is bumpits.

Bumpit is a useful thing to give volume to flat hair so now there is no need to back comb your hair to create puff. Also, back combing leads to hair breakage. Whatever is your hair color, a bumpit of matching color is there for you with different sizes.

To use bumpit, just part the section of your hair and insert the bumpit behind it. Now, with full caution lay your hair on it to cover the bumpit. You can also leave it like this or pin up your hair with a bob pin. If you need extra volume, just use two bumpits in a row.

Shorts, Shorts, Shorts!

June 28th, 2010 -

It’s officially summertime, and you know what that means. It’s hot. If you are like the rest of us, you wear shorts during the summer. Here are some ideas for how to keep cool and show off your legs.

Leather: black shorts with studs on them are faux biker, and look really good.

Tie-waist: like a skirt, but not really, you won’t need  a belt with these cute ties, and they come in a variety of lengths and styles.

Denim: more relaxed, it doesn’t mean that you can’t dress these shorts up. Pair with a white top and designer shoes for women, perhaps gladiator heels, for a night out on the town.

Ethnic prints: tribal patterns on denim and batik shorts are funky and fun.

Evening: Sequins and satin are way classy and can even be worn to work.

Hot pants: a shorter short, these come in a variety of styles and colors. With a high waist, you can get creative with the different kinds out there.

There you have it, we’ve pretty much run the shorts gamut. Pair some shorts with Ed Hardy bags and designer shoes for women and you have an outfit that is ready to roar.

Stripe Me!

June 17th, 2010 -

Stripes: black and white bands up and down, sideways, horizontal, criss-crossed, targets, whatever – simple patterns are in.

It doesn’t matter if they’re worn on t-shirts, skirts, blouses, button-downs, v-necks, or if it’s simply a white shirt and black pants. Black and white stripes, the zebra look, is a fairly conservative style, and will be sure to score you points with any soccer crowd. It’s not expensive to assemble either.

White is perfect for the summertime, and the powerful darker shades balance the absence of color so that you can get away with wearing the outfit at night or during the day. More importantly, this continues our spring and summertime obsession with minimalism and simplicity.

Once you have the basic idea in mind you cant take it anywhere – particularly hot are lingerie styles – think black bra with white top, or a side bearing tank, and military, where you can don a light pant and pair it with a striped shirt.

Best of all, this style calls for ease and grace, so you can’t try too hard or mess that up. It’s about being comfortable and looking good. So go ahead and get creative with less.

What Sells in Brazil

June 8th, 2010 -

Gisele Bundchen is the world’s top earning model. She was discovered in one of the small farms in Southern Brazil that was colonized mostly by Germans and Italians. Today in Rio Grande do Sul and two other states, more than 70% of the world’s models are found.  Model hunters look for the same hybrid that will launch the next superstar.

Although Brazil has a majority of nonwhites, the tall, fair, and light eyed mix is the best sell to runways abroad.  There is less racial segregation in the mainstream than there was 20 years ago, largely thanks to a booming Brazilian economy and a closing economic gap, yet still white girls are chosen more often for their looks. There are often discrimination reports in Sao Paolo about the lack of black and native girls picked to model, but scouts are sure of what sells.

Many of these girls are in high school or are even younger when they are chosen. If they don’t move to the city, they often stay with their families and work in the fields. Model scouts who wait for them to grow up caution against the perils of the sun by using sunscreen, and the tendency towards becoming overweight by eating fruits and vegetables.
